I’ve considered the idea of creating a Linux-based domain controller for some time but hadn’t done anything about it because I figured it would be complex. I’ve looked at this link and it looks relatively doable. I’ve already got a Linux server running NTP and DNS so I’ve already got a start.
I need to do something before my ancient Windows domain controllers die on me. My options are to either build a Linux/Samba Active Directory server or port all the Windows computers to a workgroup.
